| Aging is not fun. |
Yesterday was my birthday, and I had intended to spend it resting and doing nothing. But by midday, boredom crept in. So I grabbed my chainsaw and axe, and headed out to cut and split firewood. I got completely absorbed in the task and ended up spending half the day working outside.
Later, my wife surprised me with a birthday cake. I'm not one to celebrate occasions, but out of courtesy, I sat down with her and shared the moment. That was the extent of the day—simple, quiet, and unexpectedly productive.
